Figure Drawing and Painting with Marcia Klioze
April 10 - May 15
$300Mondays 6:00-8:30pm | 6 Weekly Sessions

Learn to draw, paint and “see” like an artist while working from models both clothed and nude. Emphasis will be on drawing, comparing the relationships of form against each other in your composition, the importance of value, and color harmony. The class will work on finishing drawings or paintings from photos and how to transition from life to photo. There will be study and discussion of reknown artists and their work, both historical and present.
Students who want to focus on learning to draw accurately can continue to draw the whole session, while others move into painting if desired. Painting and drawing demos will be provided with each class in both oils and charcoal. Marcia paints in oil but acrylic and pastel painters are welcome. The small class size of 9 students allows for very individualized instruction, and the teacher will get to know YOU, who your favorite artists are, and what paintings make you want to paint.
All levels of artists are welcome. Beginners learn the fundamentals including color, composition, form, and materials. Intermediate students hone existing skills and explore new challenges. Advanced students work with painting theory and focus on completing professional-quality work.
Model fees are split by all the students and paid directly to the instructor the first day of class.
