Class Limited to 8 Students | In-Person with a Live Model

Join our special guest instructor Kevin Muller Cisneros from New York’s Grand Central Atelier for this Summer Workshop at the Arts of Great Falls School.

Course Offering —
Often a painting can have a quality of immediacy that does not effectively represent the time spent to work out all of the variables that arise when working from a live model. This workshop is designed for the artist who wants to build a solid understanding of the methodical principles of portrait painting.
The Friday evening session will be a one-sketch demo by Kevin. In the Saturday & Sunday session, we will explore different aspects of the process through a series of portrait sketches (in oils) from a live model. Through a careful analysis of structural anatomy, form, value and color, participants will develop a naturalistic and interactive practice of observation.

In addition to group demonstrations, Kevin will individually work with every artist to discuss their process and to guide them through the development of an empirical visual language.
BIO
Kevin Müller Cisneros (Lima, Peru; 1992) emigrated, with his parents and sister, to the United States in 2003.He pursued his academic studies at the Grand Central Atelier (GCA), New York, where he spent four years studying empirical methods of drawing and seeing, with an emphasis on the human figure and the physics of light. Following the completion of his studies in 2017, Müller would go on to spend a year working inside the studio of Jacob Collins, Director of the GCA and a leading figure in the contemporary revival of the classical tradition, who would further inspire him to engage in a philosophy deeply linked to the practice of working from life.
Müller’s work has been exhibited across New York and forms part of private collections around the world. He has been a participant of the Hudson River Fellowship, and has received numerous awards, including those of the Grand Central Atelier, as well as the Salmagundi Club and the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. As an instructor of the GCA, he is committed to sharing his passion for excellence and meditation through art. His teachings have led him to carry out workshops in Spain and Argentina.
Currently living in Fairfax, Virginia, Müller continues to place an intimate appreciation of nature at the forefront of his aesthetic principles.
