COURSE DESCRIPTION
In these progressively oriented Saturday art lessons, the fine art objective is to develop drawing and seeing skills in the serious young artist, ranging in age from 8 – 18. First-time students begin by learning the three important moments of the start of a drawing: 1) the envelope, 2) the separation of light from shadow, and 3) the five-value scale. No matter what age, Michela will work with your young artist at their own level with their own personal set-up in their own space. All age students are comfortable in the classroom.
Simple still life of boxes and bottles are used for practice with perspective and proportion under a single light source. Students draw with charcoal on toned paper. Participants will learn how to see and successfully articulate monumental shapes of light and shadow, create the illusion of depth and fully realize tonal relationships. The Charles Bargue Drawing Course will be introduced during the second semester.
[All the supplies needed for the 5 sessions will be provided by the instructor for a $30 fee, paid directly to instructor at the first session]
