SESSION II | Dates Coming Soon
Capturing the beauty of flowers is a wonderful way to enjoy the summer! In this online course, we will be exploring the history of floral still-life painting. Each session will begin with a discussion and analysis of a significant floral still-life, and how we can apply the ideas discussed into our own paintings. Then you will work on your own work. Painting with oils, working with flowers that are blooming each week, we will gather together on Zoom to paint, connect and support each other.
All levels are welcome, however some experience with oil painting and accuracy in drawing will garner more realistic representations. Supply list provided upon request or with registration.
About the instructor – Elizabeth Floyd loves painting the flowers she grows in her own garden, and is also proficient in painting other subjects. She works with oils in a colorist manner utilizing a full-color palette. She applies layers of color tints wet-in-wet in order to build up form, value and color. Her work is highly rendered, however she allows brushwork to show and enjoys the textural effects that paint application can achieve. When focusing on still life, her studio practice is to work from life in natural light. In the recent years, Elizabeth’s paintings have begun gaining attention and she has received several honors and awards. Her painting “Created with Love” was published in the September/October 2015 issue of Fine Art Connoisseur magazine and since 2013 Principle Gallery in Alexandria, VA has represented her work.
