Perspective is personal to one’s viewpoint.. A slight shift of direction of the artist’s gaze changes everything - the lighting, the composition, the feeling within the scene: something plein air artists give serious consideration even before painting. Then, artists punctuate their work with their own experiences to communicate a story unique to them. In this show, similar paintings are purposely grouped together to support each one’s chosen subject, setting, and/or mood. These thirteen NOVA Plein Air Artists (NPAA) approach their distinctly separate viewpoints of landscapes and subjects in this collection of 42 paintings.

Founded in 2016, Nova Plein Air Artists (NPAA) has evolved into a creative network of local artists committed to painting weekly at organized “paint-outs.” Plein air locations are chosen for their diversity in landscape and local geography, varying from parks to rustic farms, vineyards, and urban settings within the Northern Virginia and Greater Washington, DC area. NPAA’s members, many of whom are also painters of other subjects such as still life, genre, and portraiture, actively participate in plein air competitions and gallery shows throughout the year.

This special exhibit runs through Friday, Sept 27, 2024. To schedule a private showing, please contact Meralee Fredenburgh at meralee@artsofgreatfalls.org.
