Are you ready to experiment and grow your artistic expression and skills? This inspirational and fun class opens up new possibilities and is a great opportunity to work on your personal art projects or vision while also developing your skills in any of the following opaque painting media you choose: oil, gouache, acrylic and some mixed media. You'll enjoy learning with Tricia Ratlifff, an experienced professional and collaborative mentor who can help you achieve the work that's most meaningful to you. Whether you are new or an advanced artist, come grow your skills so you can express your artistic vision with an experienced mentor. Not sure where to begin or what to work on? Tricia can help you wisely select the essential skills you need next and design projects that give you step by step learning customized for your personal path. Topics Tricia teaches: - Still life, color study, narrative art, landscape, abstract shapes and pattern play - Painting in oil, acrylic or gouache - Layering the following media into paintings - paper, text, acrylic paste mediums for texture and stencil - Realism, impressionism, abstraction, tonalism, Plein Air & color study - Compositional choices and blocking in - Drawing with graphite, charcoal and/or chalk. - Color mixing, edges and palette selection to achieve your intended emotional impact - Tricia's essential "language of light" (mathematics of light) - Palette knife painting - Palette and easel setup choices for indoor/outdoor painting and how they impact outcomes The path for this learning experience: - On day one, you’ll set up to paint/create and use a learning aide to find/focus your current artistic intent - You'll then learn to make composition, color & material choices for the meaning or emotion you want to express - Tricia will look at the materials you have and help you make choices about what to add to your palette or repertoire based on your skill level and intent - As you work, Tricia will help each student individually learn / develop the necessary skills to succeed - If needed Tricia can guide you in selecting projects that build essential skills/techniques to progress on your individual path New student?
